We are pleased to share that in late January, 2026, Safe Harbor in parternship with the City of Fredericksburg Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) achieved reaccreditation through the National Children’s Alliance (NCA), reaffirming our shared commitment to providing high-quality, trauma-informed services for children and families impacted by abuse. National reaccreditation is a rigorous process completed every five years and recognizes children’s advocacy centers that consistently meet or exceed nationally recognized standards for coordinated, multidisciplinary response, governance, and service delivery.
The reaccreditation process involves an extensive peer review of the center’s programs, policies, partnerships, and outcomes, ensuring that children receive compassionate, effective, and evidence-based support during investigations and healing. Through its work with law enforcement, child protective services, medical providers, mental health professionals, and prosecutors, Safe Harbor plays a critical role in minimizing trauma while strengthening outcomes for children and families across the region.
“We are deeply honored to receive reaccreditation from the National Children’s Alliance. This recognition affirms the unwavering commitment of our staff and MDT to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care for children and families in their most vulnerable moments, said Troy Skebo, President, Safe Harbor Board of Directors. “Reaccreditation is a reflection of our continued promise to uphold the highest standards of advocacy, collaboration, and healing. We remain steadfast in our mission to ensure every child who comes through our doors is met with safety, dignity, and hope.”
